Dr. Elizabeth Winzeler elected to National Academy of Sciences

Dr. Elizabeth Winzeler was one of three professors from the University of California, San Diego, and one of 120 academics across the country, to be elected as a member in The National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors bestowed on U.S. scientists and engineers.

Kiki Spaulding named YCA fellow

Kiki Spaulding, a Ph.D. student in the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology graduate program, has been named a 2024 fellow in the Yale Ciencia Academy (YCA). 24 biomedical and health sciences PhD students from across the country were selected for this honor.

Bojing (Blair) Jia awarded Chancellor's Dissertation Medal

Bojing (Blair) Jia, a Ph.D. student in the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology graduate program, will receive the 2024 Chancellor's Dissertation Medal at commencement for his dissertation “Multiplexed genome imaging and analysis.” Six graduating Ph.D. students in different disciplines were selected for this honor.

Erick Armingol awarded Jean Fort Dissertation Prize

Erick Armingol, a Ph.D. alumnus of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology graduate program, received the 2024 Jean Fort Dissertation Prize for his dissertation “Deciphering Patterns of Cell–Cell Interactions and Communication in Multicellular Organizations.”
