Student Mentors for Undergraduates

• Jason Bechtel With a background in Comp. Sci. & Engineering and a Masters in Bioinformatics from the University of Toledo, Jason applies bioinformatics in the fields of immunology and infectious disease, specifically "reverse vaccinology."
• Stephanie Huelga Before joining the UCSD Bioinformatics graduate program Stephanie received a Bachelor's in Bioinformatics from UC Santa Cruz.
• Joshua Lerman I am a second year Bioinformatics student at UCSD.
• Paul Loriaux I'm a fifth year bioinformatics graduate student in the lab of Dr. Alexander Hoffmann, where I apply control theory to the study of mammalian signal transduction and transcriptional regulation, using the well-known NFκB system as a model system. The Bioinformatics program at UCSD is phenomenal but can be difficult to navigate. My advice is to learn your fundamentals: deallocate your memory, combine terms in your Google searches, and upgrade to Windows 7.
