The First UC San Diego Bioinformatics and Systems Biology EXPO will be held on Friday February 27, 2009. This is planned to be an annual event.
The UC San Diego Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Expo brings together leading faculty, current and prospective Bioinformatics graduate students at the University of California, San Diego to discuss and present their work in this exciting area of research. This annual one day symposium offers a unique opportunity for students in the Bioinformatics Program, as well as students interested in Bioinformatics, to get acquainted with the wide spectrum of research topics in the field.
The event features invited talks from UC San Diego faculty speakers, a panel discussion, student talks selected from submitted abstracts, and a poster session.
All UC San Diego students interested in bioinformatics are invited to submit an abstract. All students in the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Graduate Program at UC San Diego in their second year or above are required to submit an abstract about their current research topic; first year Bioinformatics and Systems Biology graduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts if they have started their research, but are not required to do so. The organizing committee will review all the abstracts; the best abstracts will be selected for short oral presentations, and the remaining abstracts will be presented as posters.
This event is free of charge but registration is required in order to attend. Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided. Registration is mandatory for all students in the Graduate Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Program.
